596230 2007-09-29 07:41:00 I have an annoying problem on start up. Everytime I start the computer I get a "found new hardware" message. It finds a 'Multimedia Audio Controller".
I tried to install a generic sound card but had issues with the card itself (It would restart my computer when I tried to shut down).
I have taken the card out and deleted the drivers but still have this issue on start up.
How do I get rid of the the trigger that says "found new hardware" message?
I have a funny feeling that there is still part of the original drivers left.
Your thoughts?

596231 2007-09-29 08:01:00 Two things you can try -
Right Click My Computer Then properties / Hardware Tab/ Device Manager and see if its still showing there, if it is delete it. You may also see "Unknown Device" delete that also if its there. Then go to # 2
Click Start/run type in "msconfig" ( without the " ") Startup Tab and scroll through to see if you can loacate it there also. Untick if you find it, reboot.

Note: take care in what you untick if not sure then don't as certain items here should be ticked. Look for the old sound card drivers names etc.

Also download Ccleaner from My sig, install and run it, just incase any drivers that may be in the Temp folders are trying to reinstall.

What was the exact sound card as there may also be a removal tool on the manufactures site you can run through.

596232 2007-09-29 08:11:00 has the motherboard got onboard sound ? tweak'e (69)
596233 2007-09-29 08:20:00 What you can also try while in Device manager is select VIEW then "Show Hidden Devices" see if there is an Exclamation Point on any thing.

If there is Delete that also.

It may have been only half Installed or uninstalled.

596234 2007-09-29 10:03:00 Or it lost the original sound driver when you installed the new one and is therefore trying to redo it. pctek (84)
596235 2007-09-29 10:45:00 OK...Motherboard has no onboard sound.
I have done the device manager/hidden devices etc. I find a question mark with "other devices" (multimedia audio controller).
I delete it and all is OK. Once I reboot it comes back...as if every time I re start it tries to install something.
I can find a rouge driver of sorts but can't uninstall it. It says that I don't have a PCI card installed so can't go any further.
Oh...the drivers/card was from C-Media. (I have now given the card back and bought a creative card).

596236 2007-09-29 11:30:00 Is the creative card Installed ? If it is you may need to remove it and try removing the damaged driver, then once clear, reinstall the Creative wainuitech (129)

OK - that works...but I would like to get rid of the rouge drivers.
What is a good program I can download to find the drivers and to delete them?
