1414539 2016-01-16 04:04:00 I am placing it here as it is less technical question .

As digital cameras now are increasing to really large size . Even entry decent cameras are 24MP . Are you guys utilising SSD only on the boot and more recent data files? 1TB SSD are still not cheap . My 500GB standard HDD which is my data drive is filling up now since 2009 . Inside I also have 2 window image files .

I am using a temporary folder on the C: SSD .

Cheers

1414540 2016-01-16 05:45:00 Own opinion, Use SSD's for the boot drive and even Programs. Use a normal HDD's for storage. If you were accessing the pictures all the time then may save a few seconds, but really its a waste of a SSD drive. Shoot I have movies, music and pictures on Servers out in the workshop, the time difference between opening locally or over a LAN is is so small its not a worry, maybe 1/4 of a second. :)

Just buy a larger HDD 1TB and clone the 500GB to that, they are so close to the same price unless you are really penny pinching its not a worry. If you want to go larger then get either 2,3,4 or 6TB drive of course the larger the drive the more its costs. Just checked on one of my suppliers sites. A WD Blue 500GB is only one Dollar cheaper than a 1 TB, so double the capacity for $1.

1414541 2016-01-16 06:12:00 I have 2 x 512 SSD's, one as my boot/ OS drive and the other as a place to install games. All my media files are stored on a NAS using regular hard drives.

Might sound excessive but I have a large amount of games and I like to have them installed and can't quite fit them on a single 512GB SSD

1414542 2016-01-16 06:37:00 I've only got 1 SSD for booting on the new build here. It's partitioned into 2. There are no games on it, only Office and Win10

If I took photo's that were big, I'd keep them on a flash drive. But since there's more than 1 PC here, I'll chuck it on this, which has a spare 250 GB partition
