1414197 2016-01-09 05:56:00 Talking here about (elderly) NZ Citizens born here, never had the need for a passport or drivers licence, and don't need either.

Many times they are asked for photo proof of ID but not being the holder of either a passport or driver's licence, they are unable to do so. Most people in this situation don't (or resist) carrying with them their birth certificates, marriage / divorce certificates etc etc.

All I can find on the subject is from Wikipedia :

New Zealand Acceptable types of identification for proof of identification may include New Zealand and foreign passports, New Zealand Firearms Licence, National ID Card (other countries), New Zealand driving licence with a credit/bankcard, Supergold card, birth certificate or citizenship certificate. Requirements vary according to the purpose.

Which is fine, but some vendors (e.g. Air NZ) ask for positive photo ID before releasing such things as travel documents prepaid by a third party.

I'm asking on behalf of an elderly traveler. Is there any other form of Photo ID available (the application for which is naturally supported by all the usual certificates)? I'm unaware of any.

Cheers

:)

1414199 2016-01-09 07:10:00 I don't have ID either. NZ couriers wanted it when their useless drivers couldnt be bothered coming to my door, when I had ordered things off Ebay. I've got a passport, but it's over 30 yrs now.

Noone has asked me for ID when I get alcohol, so I'm not too bothered. I could get an 18+ card, but nah

1414200 2016-01-09 09:11:00 You can get a photo added to the SuperGold card.

"SuperGold Card carriers may choose to add a photo to their SuperGold Card. This could be useful if you don't have a current form of photo identification, such as a driver licence or passport.

To arrange for a photo to be added to your card, visit your nearest AA Driver and Vehicle Training Licensing outlet with your card, along with three forms of identification that verify your name and date of birth. It's a free service for all SuperGold card holders.

Your photo will be taken and a new card posted to you - all free of charge." From AA website

I see a lot of older clients who need photo ID and this is a great solution for those without a passport or driver licence as it's government issued ID.

1414203 2016-01-09 19:30:00 We had real problems when Mother in law was alive with this very issue, super gold didn't exist back then. Wife had a massive argument with her Mothers bank when they changed policy insisting on photo ID even though they had been serving Mother in law for over 30 years. gary67 (56)

One would be a full birth certificate, two would be a marriage/civil union licence, three ??? .

Not renewing gun licence, passport and drivers licence almost past their use by date, what's left for No . 3 I wonder .

1414206 2016-01-10 09:26:00 Here's the answer from supergold.govt.nz

"What proof of identity is needed when you apply for a SuperGold Card?
All new applications for a SuperGold Card must be accompanied by the following:
For New Zealand born clients, one form of government-issued documentation stating their full legal name and date of birth (eg birth certificate, passport, driver licence, firearms licence, deed poll etc)
For clients born overseas, proof of their lawful residence in New Zealand (eg New Zealand passport, other country passport with residence visa, citizenship certificate, etc)
Two more documents supporting their identity. These could include a marriage certificate, bank statement, phone or power account, driver licence, etc. Note: One of the documents requested above must be at least two years old.
Proof of any name change.
You will need originals or certified copies of this identification for verification. (Certified copies means the original document was copied, stamped and initialled either by a Work and Income/Senior Services staff member, Justice of the Peace, Solicitor; or Court Registrar).
Adding a photo to your card
To add a photo to your card, visit your nearest AA Driver and Vehicle Licensing outlet. You will need to bring your SuperGold Card and the originals of the identification you have provided in the ‘Proof of Identity’ section above."

So full birth certificate + bank statement and power account would do.
