To exaggerate an example of what is often done, 200 years ago the average lifespan was a lot lower - maybe 40 years. There were no cars. Therefore cars must be making us live longer. You can't take 1 or even a few isolated practices and blame cancer on them without extensive science to back it up, you have to look at everything that has changed and try and figure out what the many causes are and which are most to blame. I'd suggest the biggest reason for the worldwide increase in cancer rates is the simple fact that we have eliminated many of the common causes of early death and are living longer. Cancer is almost inevitable if you live long enough. Still I can't prove that and am not going to search out evidence, I'm only trying to suggest that food is just one of many factors and may not be anywhere near as bad as you think it is. That doesn't excuse cruel farming practices of course. |
