Yep.:)

1413842 2016-01-04 23:32:00 Darwin was a plonker who appeals to the simple minded who can't grasp the notion that there is actually a supreme creator more intelligent than themselves.

Repeating that Drivel doesn't make it any more true than it was the first time. Darwin appeals to rational thinkers who can appreciate science based on evidence. Creation theory appeals to people who can't grasp that and instead attribute it to ancient fairy tales based on word of mouth and "because I said so" mentality. To assert that only the simple minded can't grasp creation is the ultimate in irony. Any Idiot can understand the story of creation, but it takes a special kind of gullibility to believe it.

Darwins biggest contribution IMHO to the science of evolution was not the Idea of evolution which pre dates him, but in the concept of natural selection which is so inarguably true that even creation "scientists" have to incorporate it in their theories. What have any of you done to further science that qualifies you to name him a plonker? Do you perhaps have a degree in evolutionary science that you so obviously know the subject matter better than the experts, or do you just not like the theory, are unable to understand it, and believe it must therefore be the work of the devil?

I don't think that the story of creation - or any other stories in the Bible - are fantasy. What I think has happened is that the people of that time did not understand what they saw and so described what they saw in the language and understanding of the day. Add to that the fact that some of the stories were handed down by word of mouth before they were written down, sometimes generations later, so the stories will have changed somewhat over the years and may not be as accurate as they would have been had they been written down at the time.

To dismiss the Bible stories out of hand is very small minded.

And, of course, nothing you say does not change the fact that we live in a fantastic world, which was what I said originally.

1413845 2016-01-05 00:50:00 I should point out, that that last post of mine was a copy of Gregs post earlier on.

Darwin isn't an opinion he is a proven fact in his theories.

1413846 2016-01-05 01:09:00 I realised that Cicero.

And Roscoe I agree the universe is full of wonder, I just don't feel the need to give credit for that to a creator.

Also I haven't rejected the bible out of hand, I have read and watched many articles and debates about the subject.

If you truly look at the bible with an open mind it's an appalling and ridiculous book.

1413847 2016-01-05 01:21:00 At least we are able to question, even ridicule the bible, but Muslims cannot openly do the same with the Koran and the written words of the prophet, no matter what they may think privately, else they are likely to lose their heads. .

They saw?? No-one saw the creation of the earth, never mind the universe .

The bible is a collection of writings selected from masses of them, chosen for the "fit" of the current regime in religion at the time .
Catholics have an extra writing in theirs . . . . .

The rest were chucked as not fitting in with the ideas they were trying to perpetuate .

Anyway, whats in it now is ridiculous, nasty, and most people ignore large portions of it .

Leviticus for instance .

No wearing of 2 fabrics at a time - death .
No growing of more than 1 crop in a field - well there goes the vege garden .

No speaking to menstruating women - so, what, must you ask your (female) boss or teacher every day to check?

Keeping slaves is fine, so long as they are from other nations .

And other **** .

Then there are the "godly" people .

Lot - who always mentioned for leaving sodom and gomorrah - but never mentioned for screwing and having babies with his daughters later .

Abraham, who after he rapes the maid and has a kid, god makes his old wife have one - so he boots maid and kid out into the desert, once it was no longer convenient .

David, who fancied his war commanders wife so arranges to have him killed so he can screw her, and remains a godly person .

And loads of other nastiness . And you think muslims are bad?

1413849 2016-01-05 02:07:00 PCTek, you are in true form. No matter what the topic is you will always find the negative side. Don't you ever see the positive side of anything?

Granted, there are some nasty stories in the Bible, but there are some very nice stories as well if you just want to find them.

But then I don't suppose that would suit you. You just like to find the worst side of everything. What a sad person you must be.

But once again, I reiterate. I was just saying what a wonderful world we live in. I was not trying to start an discussion on religion.

Well done Roscoe for reminding us, even with all the bad things that happen in the world, that we do live in a beautiful world with some amazing things to see and do. Just as one example, I have been through the Rocky Mountains by train to the other side of Canada where I visited Niagara Falls and they really are something special! Even our own backyard here in NZ is filled with gorgeous sights and wild life. It's not about the destination sometimes it's about the journey and life is the longest thing you'll ever do - so enjoy it people!
