2016-01-04 20:23:00 | There is a 5 million kilometer difference between earth's aphelion and perihelion. Ah yes, but that has no effect on Climate Change, however minuscule amounts of Carbon does, because that can be corrected by Taxes.

2016-01-04 21:36:00 | No it doesn't, it has some effect on something we call "seasons". Not really... Seasons are caused by the yearly orbit of the Earth around the Sun and the tilt of the Earth's rotational axis relative to the plane of the orbit. The fluctuation you refer to is over much longer time spans. Over thousands of years, the Earth's axial tilt and orbital eccentricity vary, these variations are referred to as the Milankovitch cycles. The equinoxes and solstices move westward relative to the stars while the perihelion and aphelion move eastward. Thus, ten thousand years from now Earth's northern winter will occur at aphelion and northern summer at perihelion. With thanks to good ol' Wikipedia again.

2016-01-04 22:06:00 | I always thought Greggs 'coffee' tasted vile. As a cost saving the old PEL tried to introduce it in the cafeteria, replacing Nescafe. However popular outcry soon got rid of it. | Terry Porritt (14) | |
2016-01-04 22:09:00 | Well the orbit has more to do with seasons than it does climate change ;) Absolutely, but it is the axial tilt that is responsible for them. You understand that, right? ;)

And Darwin was only part of the equation en.wikipedia.org Darwin was a plonker who appeals to the simple minded who can't grasp the notion that there is actually a supreme creator more intelligent than themselves. All credit to Roscoe for reminding us of how fantastic this world is, and what wonderful hope we still have for our futures. |
