| 1413944 | 2016-01-18 03:58:00 | Have to agree with Dugi and 1101 (=26?) that there is no proof of God and it is impossible to have any. The reason there can't be any proof of God is that if there were, this would be a truth about God. But a truth "about" something implies a viewpoint able to see the thing and verify the truth. This notional viewpoint logically is separate from the thing the truth is about. In the present case, the viewpoint would say "Yes, God exists." Or "No, God does not exist", depending on the fact of the matter. But where is that viewpoint? Under monotheism, God is the highest viewpoint there is. There is nothing higher that can logically "look down" and pronounce about God. The result: it is logically impossible to have proof of God. The (intelligent) Christian position is that God, if he exists, is able to download belief in his existence and that's all that is needed. The only catch is the person must "open a listening port", or have an open mind. For what it's worth, I think God does exist. But I don't expect anybody to be influenced by that. A person can only have the belief instilled by God, and even then, only if they have an open mind. |
