2007-10-04 03:28:00 | I have a pathetically small hard drive so constantly struggle to get rid of stuff. Today I checked the MY DOCUMENTS folder (which I am sure isn't in the place MS originally put it). There are hundreds of files I know nothing about - I would like to get rid of the lot - too dangerous. But I do have 4 which I would like to try deleting - they are all zip files. Their names are images, images_crystal, image_hicontent, images_industrial. I could get a huge lump of my tiddly little hard drive back if I could safely delete these but I do not know what they are. Do you recognise them? Advice please. Tom

2007-10-04 07:54:00 | When I first started on the net I used to say to myself, "If you don't know what it is and you don't what is does then leave it alone." Now I say to myself "If you don't know what it is then find out and then (if appropriate) biff it. You're likely to accumulate more junk that clogs your system than you are to chuck out essential system files. I highly recommend CCleaner to keep your comp free of this stuff. I use it on two comps and have never had any problems with it. | mark c (247) | |

2007-10-04 20:43:00 | What's the directory path that these files are inside? Quite simple I have MY DOCUMENTS directly on (drive) C And for the other suggestions - I use CCleaner regularly - but it doesn't touch these files. My original intention was to have MY DOCUMENTS containing nothing except my work so that backing up to my laptop and DVDs etc was easy. I suspect I am the cause of all these strange files that have appeared and am considering another solution - shove them all on a DVD that I keep in case they are needed sometime!! Is that wise? Tom

2007-10-04 21:54:00 | Yeah it does indeed look like these are to do with open office, If you've got that installed then I'd leave them there, but if you had it installed once but not anymore then you could delete them. or if you never had open office that's a bit strange, but you could back them up and then delete, If anything goes wrong you can put them back but probably not nessecary. | Agent_24 (57) | |
2007-10-04 22:04:00 | I pretty much agree with Agent 24 except even if they are open office files if they're in C:/My Documents and you don't want them then chuck em out but myabe do what Agent 24 says, he knows more about it than me. We're all on the wrong track with CCleaner. | mark c (247) | |
2007-10-04 23:39:00 | Don't think they're temporary files, so ccleaner (or any other cleaner) probably won't get rid of them If you've ever gone anywhere near openoffice on that PC, then I reckon they would be definitely from that.
