597703 2007-10-03 22:03:00 Linksys always seem to be popular - and work well. Something like This (www.pbtech.co.nz) wainuitech (129)
597704 2007-10-03 22:19:00 Still Linksys but the newer model, slightly more expensive though

597705 2007-10-03 23:09:00 I've found the Dick Smith Electronic brand routers really good and reliable. Pourhommenz (104)
597706 2007-10-03 23:19:00 I've found the Dick Smith Electronic brand routers really good and reliable.

I have seen over 5 of them fail this year, and the UI is unbelievably crap, worse than Dlink by a long shot.

That photo is not the WAG54G! It is a photo of the WAG200G which is newer than the WAG54G.

The WAG200G is what I would go for.

597708 2007-10-04 01:41:00 Linksys, easy to set up, value for money and great help desk. beeswax34 (63)
597709 2007-10-04 01:49:00 I use a 3Com wireless router/firewall myself... have used a netgear one as well and they both worked really good.

Still using the 3Com unit and I've had no problems with it.. the admin page is pretty straight forward and is has many configurable bits. Most of which I don't use.

cheers

597711 2007-10-04 02:03:00 I bought a Linksys WAG200G a month or so ago. Absolute pig of a thing to set up (I am not the only one to say this!), but once going it's fine.

One BIG downside for a wireless router is that it has no physical on-off switch (my old D-link had a push button on the back) so you have to unplug to reset etc and you have to go into the web interface to disable wireless (which I guess is standard for most of them)

I'm just saying- think a bit about how you will use it. If you are only going to use the wireless part for a spare lap top now and then, it may not be a good idea if you can't disable the wireless and leave it running 24/7.
