| 597679 | 2007-10-03 21:03:00 | Howdy, Got about 30gb of Mp3 which I have placed into about 5 folders, organised by Artist name. Problem is it takes ages for the folders to open. I have an idea it is because it is arranging them alphabetically each time it opens but I would have thought with a dual core 3.2ghz, 2gb RAM etc, that my computer should be able to open them fairly quickly. Anything I can do to make them open quicker without having to split them into smaller groups of folders? Cheers Veale |

If you have it set to Details then Windows will try and read every file for the metadata tags - i.e. to get Artist Name, Album, Year, Duration, Genre etc etc This can take a long time if there are a lot of music files in a folder. |

As for the folder cyabro, true, i do have them set to open wkth the details and well as grouping them under A, B C etc, but I would have thought that it would still open quick given the speed of the computer. I remember having about 8gb or so in one folder on my old machine ( 1.47ghz, 256gb ram) and it opened them up pretty much instantly.... |
