597496 2007-10-03 04:18:00 I just bought myself a brand new 3rd gen 4GB iPod nano. :D

All I ask is - is there anything I should know or do before going ahead putting songs and other stuff on? I just don't wanna mess it up... :)

597497 2007-10-03 04:19:00 What do you want to know. The iPod is pretty simple, just press "Play"
If you want to show cover art while playing your songs you need to have an iTunes Store account (you will need a credit card although you don't need to buy anything)
iTunes is a FREE download from here www.apple.com

597498 2007-10-03 04:21:00 It's already messed up, you can't make it any worse, anything you do to it will only make it better.

 Sorry, ignore that.

I think they are pretty hard to mess up? Just put stuff on it and see how it goes! No doubt winmacguy will be around and will offer heaps of really helpful comments, much unlike what I have posted.

Hope you enjoy it! :)

Edit: What do you know! He beat me! :p

597500 2007-10-03 04:27:00 If you use Itunes dont forget to tick enable disk use. Once the Ipod is connected.

Or else Itunes may crash, when you sync. Well it did when I used an older version of Itunes. And this option wasnt ticked.

Or use Winamp.

 I'd have to agree with you there.

597502 2007-10-03 04:47:00 Okay, that's good.

One question - all my music is in the My Music folder, so how do I have it put into the iTunes music folder and rearranged in there?
Chris815 (10270)
597503 2007-10-03 04:49:00 Probably the easiest way would be to tell iTunes to search your PC for media, it will add it automatically that way, and convert it all to the necessary format if need be. wratterus (105)
597504 2007-10-03 04:51:00 File menu / add folder to library. It'll sort them by name.

Then you can add album art (if you own the CD), so its got a cover.

Thats if the Ipod supports Album Art.

You have to sync before they'll go to your Ipod.

597505 2007-10-03 04:57:00 iTunes will ask if you want to look for and import/convert existing music on your PC. Make sure you set the importing bit rate to 192kbps or higher - or use Apple Lossless which is the better codec. If you want you can use MP3 codec and set it to 256 kbps or higher. winmacguy (3367)
