597380 2007-10-05 05:27:00 the link I supplied was for the latest drivers from viaarena, most likely to be more up to date than asus.

Heh .....

I'm too used to Intel chipsets, and I guess I was just thinking Chipsets = Intel.

What I meant was get it from the chipset manufacturer, not ASUS, and he has already done this now with no improvement :(

Your temperatures are fine - the card slows down at a huge 145 degrees and 70 is normal.

597381 2007-10-05 06:01:00 Have you guys got any more ideas?

Or is it, SHOCK HORROR, an unsolvable problem? Dun dun dunnnnnnn :badpc:
Fishy (10540)
597382 2007-10-05 08:19:00 Oh it's solvable alright. Just looks like it's gonna be real fun....

Let me think on it awhile (and hope someone else brings forth some good ideas meanwhile)

597383 2007-10-05 14:41:00 Is the graphics card PCI-X or AGP?

Also have you tried running soemthing like 3dmarks2006? to benchmark it .

I see that m . b has a built in videocard make sure its properly disabled! I had a machine here the other day that had no disable option for the onboard video even though another card was plugged in it still showed up in the device manager . I would pull the card out, go in using onboard video and uninstall the drivers for the onboard video . Just in case they are clashing .
Maybe even consider using one of the nvidia driver cleaner utils .

597384 2007-10-05 19:53:00 It's AGP.

I have already uninstalled the onboard VGA drivers but I can tell it's not using them because the onboard VGA was complete crap. It didn't play everything on high at all it just crashed.

The onboard VGA doesn't even show up in device manager anymore because I uninstalled it.

I can run 3dmark06 today if that will help at all? I'll post the results here later today.

597386 2007-10-05 21:34:00 Are you running your games off a disc or file? rob_on_guitar (4196)
597387 2007-10-05 21:43:00 Both. Some games I have run off disks. E.g. Far Cry. And some games have to run off files because of steam. E.g. CSS, HL2 etc Fishy (10540)
597388 2007-10-05 21:51:00 Are the games running of disc lagging or just the ones running off file? rob_on_guitar (4196)
