597468 2007-10-03 06:20:00 If that doesn't work, you may have to 'su apt-get install mozilla-firefox' in konsole

unknown id: apt-get

597469 2007-10-03 06:20:00 command not found
What happened when you tried typing in konsole 'firefox'?

597470 2007-10-03 06:23:00 it said "command not found" SurferJoe46 (51)
597471 2007-10-03 06:23:00 I think in Ubuntu one uses sudo, instead of su, bit unsure here (hopefully someone a bit more knowledgable will pop up), so try;

$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get install mozilla-firefox
jcr1 (893)
597472 2007-10-03 06:26:00 Thats how I installed it.

Add/remove programs. Adept installer pw window will come up.

Type in your password.

Adept installer window comes up under search, type in firefox.

Firefox web browser entry comes up tick it, then apply on the bottom.

It installs.

I'm using FF in Kubuntu at the mo to send this.

597473 2007-10-03 06:26:00 I can't remember lol
Though have just read that Kubuntu uses Adept

Joe, if jcrs command doesn't help, you may have to look throught the menus for Adept. I'm trying to find some man page or any info about it at the moment

help.ubuntu.com

597474 2007-10-03 06:27:00 Hey!!!!

I typed in "Mozilla.org" in Konqueror and got there!!!!

Hooray!

It must need the .org to get places..that proves my browser and DSL are working...Hahahahah!

597475 2007-10-03 06:30:00 now I'm downloading it..what the heck is "ark" anyway?

I clicked it..it looks like an unzipper..so now I've got a lot of folders and such...

What now?
SurferJoe46 (51)
597476 2007-10-03 06:32:00 Welllll..that did something..that unzipper got me three folder/icons in Konqueror..

Desktop
Examples
firefox

which should I click on?
SurferJoe46 (51)
597477 2007-10-03 06:33:00 Konqueror is a browser thats why.

Go to system settings / network connections. It'll show you the dsl entry, under network interfaces.

It was easier for Kubuntu to detect the adsl and a LAN, than trying to configure a printer or the modem!

So, WHAT came up when you typed firefox in Adept installer?? Didnt it come up?

That would have be easier coz once you tick the entry and apply it installs it automatically.
