| 597506 | 2007-10-03 05:02:00 | Re-encoding can only lower the quality, Don't do it. Drag and drop is still the best way to move files to an external device, I'd imagine Apple have moved hell and earth to ensure this most simple and effective way can not be done with their gear. |

| 597511 | 2007-10-03 06:15:00 | Knowing what I know now - the best advice I can possibly give is to say make sure you know where you want your songlist to end up on the hard drive. After about a year I decided to move my songs to another partition -- ie from my C drive to my D Drive. Superficially it is easy but in the end cost me countless hours. So really be sure where you want to keep. :blush: Also, the earlier suggestion made that you decide now on whether to use AAC, MP3 or lossless. You don't want to make the change later.
