2007-10-03 02:15:00 | Just cause it's onboard sound doesn't mean it can't cause problems, I have seen sound drivers cause all kinds of crap while gaming. But in this case, the symptoms aren't right. :) Are you and your friends gfx cards the same? (both agp?) Perhaps try switching cards for a day and see what happens then. Maybe narrow down whats causing the problem. How big is your PSU?

2007-10-03 02:26:00 | PSU could also be causing it, but your GFX drivers should throw an error message that the card isn't getting enough power I see from the manual that your board has an AGP 8x/4x slot and a PCI-E 1x. Hope you haven't got a PCI-E card plugged into that slot (dunno how), for obvious reasons Check your AGP settings are enabled to 8x in the BIOS?

2007-10-03 02:51:00 | I have a "Hyena 300W" PSU. That's what it said on it. It came with the case I think? AGP is set to 8x and the AGP Aperture Size is set to 128mb whatever that means? His video card is PCI-E and a different brand but the difference shouldn't be so huge. Plus on reviews etc on the net with my exact model in AGP it's reading the same FPS my mate gets.

2007-10-03 02:55:00 | The first thing I'd do is see if you can borrow a bigger PSU, and try that. That may not be the case, but 300w is very small these days.:2cents: Edit - Oh yeah, thats a crap brand, too.

2007-10-03 03:03:00 | Hyena make the WORST PSU's known to man - they say its 300W but you will be lucky if its a re-badged 200W generic PSU try and grab a decent PSu for testing - try and borrow a enermax or other good brand 300-400W PSU and see if your issues go away ive had so many Hyena PSU's blow up or fail i wonder how the heck they aren't bankrupt?

2007-10-03 03:28:00 | On any game I play my fps is ALWAYS the same. I have a 6600gt. My friend has the same card but gets around 70fps in a firefight in CSS. I get 15. Why is this? Here are my other parts: Intel Celeron D 346 3.06ghz Well.......what CPU does he have? A Celeron is not exactly brilliant. And you have the same O/S? You have exactly the same stuff running in the background while the game is playing? Probably not.

2007-10-03 04:09:00 | A celeron might be horrible but it shouldn't be that bad (I actually used to run games on a 900mhz skt370 celeron, 32MB PCI GF2-MX and 256MB ram - AND BF1942 didn't even run as bad as yours on medium-low settings) I agree, since hyena are crap, and a 300 watt one is a joke for your setup anyway (with 10A on the 12v I'm suprised your PC actually starts) You might find that it is indeed lack of power causing your problem ive had so many Hyena PSU's blow up or fail i wonder how the heck they aren't bankrupt? A LOT of pc cases (especially foxconn) come with hyena PSUs. They must ship a ****load, and foxconn are pretty big when it comes to cases, almost all the plastic connectors in your PC and a lot of motherboards. Plus some people will actually willingly buy a hyena, obviously they have no idea how bad they are, or maybe they have some deluded concept that they are actually good. :yuck:

2007-10-03 04:12:00 | Well . . . . . . . what CPU does he have? A Celeron is not exactly brilliant . And you have the same O/S? You have exactly the same stuff running in the background while the game is playing? Probably not . All the same, the system requirements to play CSS are: - 1 . 2 GHz processor - 256 MB RAM - DirectX 7 Graphics Card - Windows 98/2000/ME/XP/Vista So his 3 . 06 Celeron easily meets and excedes the specifications .
