597409 2007-10-10 12:40:00 Another good programe I use is, Taskpatrol v2.0 which tells you your CPU usage,Ram usage, programes running, uptime of the programes, uptime of your computer in a nice graphical way,a very good program for anybody.:)

And for Gamers I also use, Fraps which is very good as well as it tells you your FPS while playing games.

Both of these are free.

597410 2007-10-10 13:23:00 I just put an $80 nvidia 6200 128 meg card into a Aspire 2.8 gig Celeron machine also running 700 megs of ram. Plays GTA3 S.A , Tiger Woods 2007, NFS Carbon all fine 1024x768, Except for NFS carbon which I dropped down to 800x600.

So something must be seriously screwed up, did you use coolbits and underclock the card by mistake??? another thought maybe some of the ram on the card has fritzed?

Are you sure the CPU isn't throtling down?? run CPUZ and watch and see if the multiplier slide up and down.

I wouldn't have thought it was a hardware limitation. I'm thinking still something configured very badly but unnoticed

Still, have you tried virus/malware scan? quickest one might be trend micro housecall, which does both... then do others if that's not successful

If the video card had bad ram artefacts would be extremely likely, and/or BSODs.

597412 2007-10-11 03:11:00 1. No I don't have any case fans, unless theres one at the front which came with the case. I think there is.

2. Yes I have tried defragmenting.

3. I use CCleaner as well to clean up my HDD

4. I currently have AVG anti-spyware and AVG, both PRO bought versions. They do a system scan every day. I have also scanned with spybot S&D and Adaware

5. I use Zonealarm PRO bought version for my firewall.

6. Yes windows is patched and fully up to date.

And apsattv the CPUZ multiplier stays steady at x23.0

597413 2007-10-11 12:00:00 I can only think for you to download one of the nvidia driver cleaning utils. Have the latest driver for the video card sitting on the desktop reading to run.

Uninstall the video card run the driver cleaner, then reinstall the video card.

597414 2007-10-11 12:07:00 Have a look in your NVIDIA Control Panel and make sure you are not forcing High Quality or Quality, this could be forcing AA and AF in the games, set it manually to Off or choose Performance, or even use 'Let the 3D Application Decide'. apsattv (7406)
597415 2007-10-12 05:20:00 Yeah they are all set to let the 3d application decide. As well as the global AA/AF settings.

I'm starting to think it probably is my $80 Celeron D processor.

597418 2007-10-14 08:58:00 Hold on a sec,
Try winpatrol and start cutting some stuff from loading on startup. Could be some quirky kind of clash hogging the cpu.
