598513 2007-10-06 03:50:00 i am taking the plunge and moving from Slingshot to Xnet and with that comes the change of email address. Now I can email everybody in my address book but that will only cover say 90% of the emails I get. Anybody know of options for forwarding those emails that come through 2 or three months after i switch ?

Thanks in advance

Once you sign up with Xnet.

Give your mates the Gmail email

598516 2007-10-06 04:47:00 You will need to keep some sort of an account active with Slingshot for your slingshot email address to keep working.
So you might as well just access the mail as you do now or ask Slingshot to set up forwarding to Xnet and then close your slingshot account after 2 or 3 months.

598517 2007-10-06 04:49:00 What we did when we moved from Xtra to Xnet was to keep the basic Xtra account, which I think is $5 a month and then $2.50 per hour for dial-up.
Then in Xtra's webmail (may not work any more with Yahoo bubble bobble  ) and set it to forward any emails to the new email address.
Only cost $5 a month (as we weren't dialing up Xtra at all) and we kept this a about 3 months from memory.
By then everyone knew the new email address and we canceled the xtra acount.

You should be able to do something similar with other ISPs.

598518 2007-10-06 05:32:00 It took a week for Xnet to set me up, as soon as I got the call ADSL had been activated .

I got the modem, closed the Ihug and Telecom accounts .

Then emailed whoever telling them the new emails, after I had connected to Xnet .

598519 2007-10-06 06:33:00 Sometimes it might pay to stay with ur old email account - particularly from a major NZ ISP. Because they may add additional features, promotions, etc, in the future that may have benefits. I switched from xtra ISP but retained the email account then xtra-yahoo came with its features which still allowed me (or rather my tennage kids) to use them... kahawai chaser (3545)
