598309 2007-10-05 18:56:00 I am trying to install this .
It shows up in the device manager but the "Link" light only appears when I boot the PC and then goes off, never to be sen again . The "Act" light flashes every now and then .

The instructions say I should have a Green 'D' in the systray to show that everything is installed properly but I get a white 'D' with a red stripe and when I hover the pointer over it I get "D-Link AirPlus DWL-G510 Wireless PCI Adapter(rev . C) Not Connected" .

I did notice that the "found new hardware' wizard didn't start but assumed that the instructions may have been a bit older (my brother in law gave me the adapter in Jan) as I did get a message identifying the adapter after I plugged it in and rebooted .

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

598310 2007-10-05 19:44:00 And WHAT else have you got there??

Is this adapter an AP as well??

Have you got an Access point??

Have you configured and given this adapter an ip address??

WHAT are you trying to connect this adapter to?

It has to connect to something to actually do something

Hihi
in regards if you have a white "D" and a red stripe, that your wireless USB adapter is not connecting to the wireless modem that you have???

and what is your wireless modem that you currently using?? have you enable your wireless yet???

598312 2007-10-06 00:07:00 Right update time

It appears to be a problem with encryption as I can connect when there is no encryption/security. Just need to work out how to enable so that the adapter and my DSL G604T can still talk to each other.

598315 2007-10-06 09:12:00 Thanks. got it working.... I unchecked the "let windows configure my settings" button so I could use the D link utility.. now it works until I reboot. It connects then disconnects when I log into an account. I found a work around (unplug and then plug in the adapter) but I must be missing something. Sam's Dad (11848)
