599487 2007-10-08 16:59:00 Is my IBM thinkpad laptop stuffed for good?
Due to a virus a formatted the entire hard disk I have no floppy drive for this and can only access the bios which refuses to recognize the cd drive or USB drive Can anyone help or give advice?? It also refuses to recognise the harddrive even though it was still working perfectly

599488 2007-10-08 17:52:00 Why BIOS "refuses to recognise the CD drive"? Have you specified the boot order correctly? How long have you had the laptop for?

Cheers :)

Have had the laptop a couple of months and yes I specify the CD Drive as the first one.

599490 2007-10-08 20:47:00 Take it to a shop for restoration. pctek (84)
599491 2007-10-08 21:21:00 Must be an antiquated mb if it doesn't ask you to boot from CD regardless of Boot Order.... Shouldn't need to take it to a shop though, certainly you can do exactly what they would with a little ingenuity and patience DigitalMessiah (7649)
