599479 2007-10-09 03:10:00 It will have a PCI-E slot for a graphics card btw.

You don't know that!

Ok, so if it does have ability to have an extra video card, then the slot would most likely be PCI-E. But then this thing does have an IGP for a reason: maybe the fact that they couldn't be bothered putting in support for a proper card

Only way we'll know for certain is if we're told the mobo model, or PC model if it's some brand name thing.

A motherboard that can support an AMD 5000+ but not have a PCI-E slot? Maybe if this was 1996.

Anyway can I guess the computer is a HP Pavilion A6130N

AMD 5000+
Geforce 6150
3GB RAM (wtf?)
Vista Premium

The specs fit and it has a PCI-E.

599481 2007-10-09 06:30:00 Any normal mobo that can run an AMD 5000+ would have a PCI-E most likely, I agree.

Though here's a socket AM2 Motheboard, that supports up to 6400+ CPU and has an AGP 8x Slot, rather than PCI-E.

But I bet that somewhere is also a DELL with a motherboard that has full AMD 5000+ support and absolutely NO PCI-E anywhere, for the sole purpose of being retarded, pissing people off and forcing you to upgrade as much as possible when you decide that something is too slow.

You seem rather specific with your HP Pavilion A6130N, but as you say this has 3GB RAM, apparently the PC in question has 2GB

599482 2007-10-09 23:02:00 actually, it's an HP Pavillion a1740n

I think it's also slower in performance because I'm supporting 1440x900 resolution? (yes, no?)

as for 7.5 ghz, yeah I don't believe it either. What you say makes sense, but when I tested it on system requirements lab, it told me : 2.6ghz rated 7.5 ghz.

599483 2007-10-09 23:21:00 yeah at that resolution you're going to be hard pressed to find something that doesn't lag on a 6150 LE

According to HP that PC has a Core 2 Duo E6300, but I guess there is an AMD version also.

Looks like it will indeed have a PCI-E slot, but if you're gonna be opening the thing to put a new card in, might as well have a look and see

599484 2007-10-09 23:37:00 HP Pavillion a1740n
I see this model is only sold in the US and Canada.

599485 2007-10-09 23:39:00 Seeing as you've confirmed its an HP system it mean you'll also likely need to get a new PSU. Any modern graphics card that can play modern games generally needs a lot of power and chances are the crappy PSU used by HP wont be able to handle the jandle. Pete O'Neil (6584)
599486 2007-10-11 01:27:00 I replaced my PSU already when my first one fizzled. Tienshin (12903)
