| 601026 | 2007-10-12 23:06:00 | Ok, so I got a quote from my dads friend and here it is below (pic) img218.imageshack.us I showed my friend and he thinks that the graphics card is ****. He also recommended I go for a 19" monitor instead of 17" and also upgrade to 320 gb instead of 250gb. We rebuilt the quote on http://www.ascent.co.nz/ and it worked out about 150 bux cheaper, so yeah I don't think I'll bother buying all the parts myself I'll just let my dads mate go ahead with it. But I want to make sure all the parts he quoted are good enough and what needs changing? The new computer's purpose is mainly going to be for sound recording and good enough to run games like battlefield 2, etc. My old comp had an onboard graphics card and couldnt even run a basic 2d shooter. So yeah any advice or help with this quote would be helpful! The price is ofcourse in NZ currency. |

I would upgrade the HDD to atleast 320-500GB, the card to a 8800 something (depending on budget) and get a 19inch (21 would be ideal) monitor for that kind of price. Have you tried PB Tech? They would be far more competitive that that person's quote. |

Something that should be tried first as it is quite a change from XP. Now I done a quote on C1 Shoppingmall (http://c1com.co.nz/) and for $430+ on the spec above, you get a lot (a lot a lot :p) more. Low down: Q6600 CPU (pretty much a 2xE6600) 2x1GB RAM P35 Chipset Motherboard XFX 8800GTS 320MB 19" Widescreen Monitor Case and 560W PSU DVD-RW X-fi Xtremegamer Soundcard 320GB HDD Vista Home Premium Heres the quote: imagehost.cjb.net They will install it all for you for $45 if you want as well. If I had the money and I was being realistic then I would get what I quoted. But I'm a poor student :D EDIT: I chose specific companies/models so have a look at the quote I did. |

I built my own and for others as well. |

Also if you did that with his quote it would make that over the budget of the one I spec'd and it would be a less powerful PC :confused: |
