600847 2007-10-12 03:58:00 My Dad has an AMD Sempron 2200 from DSE approx 18mths old. Was going well until last evening when the screen went to the boot up screen and stayed there, meanwhile the HDD was clicking over and over. Have tried rebooting, lets me into BIOS. BIOS does not show the HDD. Tried booting with Windows disk to see if I could reinstall the OS but was unable to as it didn't recognise the HDD. Lost cause?

Help would be appreciated as there are photos on the disk that haven't been saved:(

Cheers
Sharon

600848 2007-10-12 04:09:00 Connect it to yours as a slave (make sure you jumper it properly).

And connect it to the same IDE cable as the hdd thats in yours now.

And see if you can get whatever files off it.

if you're lucky it'll work for long enough to get your stuff

600850 2007-10-12 05:33:00 As well as slaving the disk to a machine that going, try using a linux live cd to rescue data off failed hd such as this. This has worked for me several times in past in situations like this. beama (111)
