601024 2007-10-18 03:33:00 Okay, couple of entries - rerun Hijack this and tick /delete the following

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E5A1691B-D188-4419-AD02-90002030B8EE} - (no file)

O23 - Service: AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic Scheduler (AntiVirScheduler) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\sched.exe (file missing)

O23 - Service: AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic Guard (AntiVirService) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\avguard.exe (file missing)

O23 - Service: AVG7 Update Service (Avg7UpdSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe (file missing)

The 023's above are old reg keys from other antivirus programs, they may be causing trouble, Make sure you select the correct ones, there is 1 there fro Nod32 - DONT delete that.

These are a bit SUS

O18 - Protocol: livecall - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\MSGRAP~1.DLL

O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\MSGRAP~1.DLL

They may be part of MSN Messenger. Some places report them as known hijackers. I'd suggest if after doing the others, uninstall messenger if you have it, remove these then reinstall Messenger.

601025 2007-10-18 07:41:00 Oh yeah I almost forgot, what happened was one day I booted up my system and it would log in (with a classic windows login) then even before the icons and system bar appeared it would log me back out with the sound "dun dun" as if I was switching users?

This is an interesting revelation. I had a similar problem 3 weeks ago, when all of a sudden my pc (winxp home) started asking me for a password to log in...a password I have never had, by the way!! I re-booted the pc several times until I finally managed to bypass the password screen (goodness only knows how), checked my users profiles and was all kosher, ran a virus scan with AVG but would not finish scanning and froze several times. Spyware doctor and spybot search and destroy would not return any spyware or trojans.
Ran a disk check, all good. Tried to re-start pc...and that was the last thing I ever managed to do with it. I ended up re-installing the whole system, and thank God for Genie Backup Manager Pro 8 I did not need to re-install a great deal from scratch.
I was gob-smacked as I am very careful when browsing, downloading etc., I use AVG, and Kerio Personal firewall and had been good for years. I had to wonder whether all this was another gift from uncle Gates' faulty kernel or registry in windows...
