601666 2007-10-15 04:09:00 Hey guys,

Need ya brains for this one since google and microsoft searches dont come to a solution .

I look after brokers, and we send them automatic . csv files containing information about their clients policies once they are on the books .

One of my brokers cannot open her files, she gets the following:

Error Copying File or Folder .
Cannot copy file: Can not read from the source file or disk .

Current applications are:

Microsoft Windows XP, Profissional, Version 2002 .
With Microsoft Office Excel 2003 .

Any help would be much appreciated, I feel so sorry for her as our company randomly switched to crappy excel instead of the trusty pdf :P

I will check back everyday to see if anyone is able to help!

Thanks guys! have a rockin day!

601668 2007-10-15 05:21:00 Maybe the csv file is corrupted, with exta commas or formatting. Maybe open in notepad to check there are no extra commas other than between the fields. Perhaps compare with a valid csv file... kahawai chaser (3545)
601669 2007-10-16 21:08:00 This is not likely to be the content of the file (unless the error message is incredibly bad). Try re-sending it if you haven't already. It may well be a problem with loading the attachment from email. TGoddard (7263)
601670 2007-10-16 21:26:00 It could also indicate that someone has dicked with excel and she needs to validate that she can import ANY csv file before moaning about your one. zcc (50)

Excel is cool . I use it for nearly everything .
That message is rather alarming, if its coming through her email and she can't open it . It would seem to indicate her HDD is a bit knackered .

I would try copying it from the email to her documents folder then opening it rather than opening direct from within her email program .

And also turning off her antivirus checking on Office documents . Not turn it off completely - just disable the bit where it scans Office docs .

Then see what happens .

Can she open Excel and create and save a spreadsheet OK? If not, could be an issue with Excel iteslf .
