2007-10-15 04:09:00 | Hey guys, Need ya brains for this one since google and microsoft searches dont come to a solution . I look after brokers, and we send them automatic . csv files containing information about their clients policies once they are on the books . One of my brokers cannot open her files, she gets the following: Error Copying File or Folder . Cannot copy file: Can not read from the source file or disk . Current applications are: Microsoft Windows XP, Profissional, Version 2002 . With Microsoft Office Excel 2003 . Any help would be much appreciated, I feel so sorry for her as our company randomly switched to crappy excel instead of the trusty pdf :P I will check back everyday to see if anyone is able to help! Thanks guys! have a rockin day!

2007-10-15 05:21:00 | Maybe the csv file is corrupted, with exta commas or formatting. Maybe open in notepad to check there are no extra commas other than between the fields. Perhaps compare with a valid csv file... | kahawai chaser (3545) | |
2007-10-16 21:08:00 | This is not likely to be the content of the file (unless the error message is incredibly bad). Try re-sending it if you haven't already. It may well be a problem with loading the attachment from email. | TGoddard (7263) | |
2007-10-16 21:26:00 | It could also indicate that someone has dicked with excel and she needs to validate that she can import ANY csv file before moaning about your one. | zcc (50) | |

One of my brokers cannot open her files, she gets the following: Error Copying File or Folder . Cannot copy file: Can not read from the source file or disk . I feel so sorry for her as our company randomly switched to crappy excel instead of the trusty pdf Excel is cool . I use it for nearly everything . That message is rather alarming, if its coming through her email and she can't open it . It would seem to indicate her HDD is a bit knackered . I would try copying it from the email to her documents folder then opening it rather than opening direct from within her email program . And also turning off her antivirus checking on Office documents . Not turn it off completely - just disable the bit where it scans Office docs . Then see what happens . Can she open Excel and create and save a spreadsheet OK? If not, could be an issue with Excel iteslf . |
