601470 2007-10-15 02:00:00 AVG (free) is the only app that does this. My other AVs are NOD32 and Avast and they find nothing. I heard AVG has lots of false positives.

Anyone got a take on this?

Many thanks ~ John

601471 2007-10-15 02:02:00 And whats it picking up? What trojans?

And in what files?

Have you checked the AVG site or Google / Yahoo, to see if other people are getting these false +'s?

I dont use AVG, I'm using Avast.

601472 2007-10-15 02:52:00 Thanks SG.

AVG seems to pick up mostly generic trojans, with names such as Generic7.FSV. Checking for these on Google usually results in very little info. Nothing on the AVG site.

I think maybe it's time to ditch AVG.

601473 2007-10-15 03:01:00 what files? what type of file?

generally a lot of the generic ones are either unkown but contain possible malicous code. trouble is sometimes legit apps have coding that looks malicous. eg it uses an exploit.

601474 2007-10-15 03:02:00 AVG isn't your problem...but Spybot has it listed..if you trust just one anti you'll get fooled. SurferJoe46 (51)
601475 2007-10-15 03:11:00 Psssst: It looks like someone is trying to modify the time-trial date of a game or utility put out as: Sony Sound Forge 9.0c

This MIGHT be an illegal activity..but more needs to be known...sorry I didn't look deeper into this b4 my first answer.

Nope. This is a garden variety rar file a friend sent me, called Art Master.

BTW, nothing on the SpyBot site about this trojan. Do you have a link?

What I don't get is that Avast and NOD pick up nothing. They seem to be very good AVs.

601477 2007-10-15 03:54:00 Install Spybot, (www.safer-networking.org)
get all updates,
click on the ADVANCED MODE and...
answer YES to all the warnings,
goto SETTINGS and..
then IGNORE PRODUCTS...
then right click somewhere blank in the text window and...
click on DESELECT ALL.

Run a scan and see what you find.

Just an excerpt from the site that I found about your problem...relax, I am not going to post a link..this is OBVIOUSLY A KEYGEN SITE.

Many of these cracks & keygens are declared as "threats" when tested by AVG, and some other antivirus softs as the cracks infiltrate various resources present in the WINDOWS directory like user32.dll.

Rest assured, the crack that i provided is not a virus and wouldn't harm your computer in any way.You can safely ignore the virus alerts and use the crack.

If you still have some doubts, pls let me know.I'll upload the origanal (sic) files used for patching separately for you..:xmouth:
