601412 2007-10-14 23:07:00 An issue which may be related to my mouse thread, my laptop will quite regularly (i.e. usually once every few days) refuse to wake up from sleep mode correctly. LEDs will come on, lights will blink, but nothign will come up on the screen, and there is no HDD activity. The system is completely unresponsive to any keypresses, will not go back into sleep, or anything like that.

The only solution is to forcibly shut down the laptop (i.e. holding down the power button until it turns off), which of course is problematic in itself.

Does anyone have any ideas? I recently installed the "Vista Performance and Stability Patch KB941649" which I thought may help, but it hasn't - it has made Vista snappier, but hasn't resolved my sleep/standby issue.

Those updates refused to install - I get an error saying "This update does not apply to your system". Not too sure why.
