601234 2007-10-14 03:19:00 Hi there.
I am still on the xtra 'Go Large' plan.
For the past 4 - 5 days I have been noticing very slow international traffic.
NZ speed tests return very good speeds [3Mbs]
International tests [UK;USA] are very poor [300Kbps].

It will not surprise anyone to hear the helpdesk were no help [asked me to go through laborious physical checks - when the problem was obviously not on my side because of my excellent local speeds].

I suspect there is a problem with the international gateway.

Anyone else having problems?

601235 2007-10-14 03:32:00 This is always a problem. I still experience this problem from time to time.

Don't expect much from the rubbish Xtra.

601236 2007-10-14 03:48:00 Has anyone else found that this problem has been particularly accentuated in the last few days? Is it exclusively an 'Xtra' or 'Go Large' problem? User125567 (12917)
601237 2007-10-14 04:07:00 For me the international speeds with Go Large have always been terrible. Even national is intermittent.
At night (after midnight) is the only time I have ever got acceptable speeds, so I do all my downloading then.

601238 2007-10-14 04:16:00 Is it safe to say then that this problem is limited to the Go Large plan? User125567 (12917)

Yep, you got it.
I'm on the same plan. The only times i get half pie decent speeds is during work hours (9am-3pm) mon-fri & midnight to 6am. The rest of the time is crap.

601240 2007-10-14 09:12:00 I have pretty good speeds, all the time round. I'm on Go Large, racking up 50-60GBs per month for $50 :D Zayne (12910)
601241 2007-10-14 21:23:00 I think the problem is only on Go Large - I downloaded over 2gb on saty/sun during the day, all at 3.5mbs from Torrents Pourhommenz (104)

It seems there are a limited amount of people for whom Go-Large is very fast. This has always been a mystery to me.:)

601243 2007-10-14 21:52:00 go large is subject to traffic management, according to the agreement when you signed up with it. Might be a factor, shouldn't affect speed tests though.

I also am on Go large and only get good speeds at off peak times, but local speed tests indicate 2.5 - 3 mb/s almost always.

If p2p software runs slowly I would suspect it's being throttled as per the go large terms. For browsing & normal downloads it could come down to how busy the site you're using is and the international bandwidth available
