| 602843 | 2007-10-18 19:51:00 | I've just had WinXP reloaded on a laptop, with Office 2003. Everything works fine, Internet works ok on both wireless and landline. Only problem is emails stay stuck in the Outbox! I've searched online for a solution and so far the only reason seems to be that an 'Add-in' can cause this, such as Business Contact Manager. Does anyone have any simple solutions? | tmckendry (6850) | ||
| 602844 | 2007-10-18 20:12:00 | If you are with Xtra, then thats not surprising. Had a customers PC earlier this week, spent over an hour on the phone to xtra, all settings were perfect, tried several that shouldn't have worked - and they didn't . - every possible combo. ( No Contact Manager) Removed all security, fully reinstallled again - no security - No Joy. Could recieve OK, but would not send. Strange as it was, the only way to get the mail working was to use Outlook Express. Exact same settings worked fine. Reinstalled Office 2003, both from fresh or patched - same problem. Still don't know if it's extra, or some strange thing with Outlook. It wasn't just his account either, my outlook 2003, with xtra also wouldn't work, not even on a different PC. |

| 602845 | 2007-10-18 20:21:00 | I would try a pop3 email account at say gmail to see if it works. But then that will only prove pop3 works and not much else... |

| 602846 | 2007-10-18 20:58:00 | Just an update to the above Post I forgot to include. I tried the same account on xtra's adsl - no joy. Tried using a telstra account, same PC worked perfectly on Outlook. Thats why I'm leaning towards the xtra problem - Not Outlook's. |

| 602847 | 2007-10-18 21:31:00 | Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I've just got off the phone with Xtra, and it only took a 1min wait for a human to come on the line - that must be a record! We discovered that there must be a corrupt file embedded somewhere within Outlook affecting both the send/recv functions. Using Outlook Express proved the answer, everything is working fine now. So thanks again. Regards Tony. |

| 602848 | 2007-10-19 00:45:00 | Using Outlook Express proved the answer, everything is working fine now. But everything isn't working fine at all, you have just stepped around the problem by using Express!! Damn! I was hoping for an answer here because I have four computers on my network, all using Outlook 2000 that will send fine using Xtra ADSL, and two identically configured computers that receive but can't send. One (my daughter's) is sending OK using her Uni webmail setup but it still won't send using Outlook. I don't buy the corrupt file argument, simply because the odd of both computers having the same corruption are miniscule. How do you check or change the Port numbers I see referred to from time to time? I can't see that anywhere in Outlook's setup windows. Cheers Billy 8-{)  |

| 602849 | 2007-10-19 01:18:00 | What ever it is has happened again today to another customer I have- same thing Outlook 2000 this time & outlook Express. I don't buy the corrupt file argument, simply because the odd of both computers having the same corruption are miniscule AGREE - One PC has a brand new install - the other was working OK a until today. Interestingly its only doing it on a xtra account, Loaded up my Paradise account into the EXACT same Outlook on the same PC and it works perfectly. This time though its saying the email address is incorrect from the xtra settings, which it isn't. To say its F'in me off is an under statement. I'm still trying to resolve it, if I do I'll post back here right away. When you hear a scream - thats me:waughh: :waughh:  Okay 3 people here all with the same problem, whats common. Xtra Outlook 2000 & 2003 Microsoft Chances its Outlook - Don't think so (Mine works fine on Telstra account) Xtra - Possible MS - Any Updates - No from me, none have been installed since problem began. |

I also used to have that problem with MS Outlook 2003 on a computer running Vista and connected via the ever delightful ISP Xtra . :badpc: Spent ages trying to fix it nothing seemed to work, then all of a sudden it was up and running again fine a probably a month or 2 later, don't know if something was patched or what . Just happy it works again as didn't really like Windows Mail . |

Does anyone have any simple solutions? Very often people use Word as the editor for composing Emails in Outlook. So you make an email to send out and click send within word and this will be in the outbox within Outlook. Depending on how you have set up Outlook 2003 this email will go or not! Do you use Word as the editor? Have you closed outlook then re-open outlook, then click Send/Receive? |
