602391 2007-10-17 08:22:00 I have several email addresses that I check using either Outlook or Outlook Express on 3 or 4 computers.

The ihug one checks OK but those on my domain name (web host different to ISP) don't. And I can't access webmail or any pages on the web host. This started yesterday morning and I just assumed their servers were down.

Today a family member told me he had connected to his email on my domain via dialup. Hmmm. So I connected the laptop via the modem and got my mail.
This kind of indicates the firewalls on the computer are OK.

So, having checked all settings on the Netgear router and not found anything I reset it. Same problem. Can access most things but not the web host.

Anyone with any ideas?

602392 2007-10-17 08:28:00 Ping and traceroute the mail server from your ISP connection and see what happens. Post the results. vinref (6194)
602393 2007-10-17 08:46:00 PING 202.27.83.108 (202.27.83.108): 56 data bytes

--- 202.27.83.108 ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

I have run tracert from the command prompt. Bits show but several "request timed out"s. Also I can't copy and paste it from DOS. Is there a Windows way of running it?

No path. I have pinged the same and it works fine for me.

I don't think so. Can you post the tracert results (or a screenshot)?

602395 2007-10-17 09:27:00 Hi,

Sorry for delays. No email so it is refresh (and I'm answering the emails I downloaded earlier via dialup)

Having lost access to my website I can't upload the tracert results to there. Have I seen references to a Press F1 image server somewhere in other threads?

Whilst you are at it, also try running:

nslookup 202.27.83.108. You may need to have the TCP/IP stuff installed.

602397 2007-10-17 09:33:00 Found it in the FAQs.

Traceroute screen shot follows:

602398 2007-10-17 09:49:00 nslookup came back with webmail.netsmart.co.nz

Actually I think it is time to sleep on it. Often helps - wake up in the morning knowing exactly what the problem is.

We have a night owl who plays on the net for half the night so I'm probably better to flag it for this evening and try again in the morning whilst he sleeps.

I have a second router and a broadband modem that I can try. But I'll do this in the morning - I've already kicked him off a few times tonight with router reboots and the reset.

Thanks for the help. If you have any ideas by morning they would be appreciated.

602399 2007-10-17 10:45:00 My traceroute completes successfully. Your tracert misses the las two routers. It looks like Netsmart is blocking ihug (POP/SMTP, Web etc) traffic to it.

If you have not changed any settings on your end and this has just happened (suddenly), then you need to contact Netsmart and tell them about it.

602400 2007-10-17 21:36:00 Hi Vinref,

Tried the other router and broadband modem . Same problem .

Logged in via dial-up and all OK .

Have now emailed Netsmart (from my ihug account so I can get a reply!) and will wait on them .

Over the last week I have been sorting out why broadband kept disconnecting . In the fiddling that went on I've obviously done something strange .

My current suspicion is to do with email logs . They were supposed to come to me daily but weren't . I re-entered the details of the account to send to and re-enabled it . This may have been the point that email stopped working . It was partly from this thought that I reset the router .

Maybe it sent something strange to Netsmart which got me blocked? Am waiting to hear from them .
