| 602897 | 2008-03-15 09:40:00 | Speedy, I wanted to thank you for providing those step-by-step instructions. I think that I successfully got rid of this silly virus. I have never seen one like it. It's very sneaky, yet pretty humorous. I noticed that the sounds would come out of my speakers between 11am - 12:30pm on weekdays (Never on weekends). I made it a point to listen for it each time. It wasn't until yesterday that I decided to open task manager and look for anything suspicious. You're right, it may have came from something in Ares... Or, maybe a website. I don't use Ares much nowadays. I will try to not use IE. Firefox seems much more secure. Thanks again. |

| 602901 | 2008-04-13 21:22:00 | You maybe able to remove IE, if you use something like Nlite and made a slipstreamed CD. You can disable IE (but IE will still be there) in control panel / set program access and defaults. You just wont see its icon. |
