| 602633 | 2007-10-25 02:43:00 | oh bugger.... I found the DVB-T Source and scanned for New Zealand stations, but alas, there didn't seem to be any. I don't know anything much about this satillite stuff, but if I wanted to buy a dish for it, what sort and how do I go about it? Can you get them second hand? |

I don't know anything much about this satillite stuff, but if I wanted to buy a dish for it, what sort and how do I go about it? Can you get them second hand? The Sky dishes work fine, and are the easiest option . Wait till Sky offer free installation and then get it install, uses Sky for a couple months and then cancel your subscription . |

Just watch out as they are making people sign for 12 months if you want their special deals! |

| 602636 | 2007-10-28 06:06:00 | After tuning in the channels on Prime I have diagonal interference patterns - lines of a darker color. Is there some way to remove them? It doesn't appear on other channels |

Wait till Sky offer free installation and then get it install, uses Sky for a couple months and then cancel your subscription. I haven't seen them offer free installation for many years. Being a monopoly, they don't really need to either, as there aren't any other pay TV providers apart from telstra cable. Sometimes they do offer $50 and $100 installation specials, but I believe they can make you sign up to a 12 month contract, so you are probably not going to get a cheap aerial. I am sure they also would have covered themselves by people doing just that to get a cheap satellite dish |

| 602638 | 2007-11-02 23:56:00 | One more question - does all the software work in Vista OK? :cool: :p | wratterus (105) | ||
| 602639 | 2007-11-03 03:39:00 | I have a Hauppage WinTV-HVR4000 and a WinTV-PVR-350. I currently have a normal TV aerial going into the 350 plus Composite cables to/from the TV. The 4000 I have a feed from the Sky Dish. Since I have MySky my dish has 2 LNB's. The WinTV software works fine for both cards from Hauppage. The PowerCinema 5 that came with the 4000 card can not find any Digital channels at all. After many emails to Cyberlink still no joy. However after trying a few other software programs the most successful is MediaPortal. It finds all the freeview digital channels off Optus D1 that Cyberlink Powercinema could not find and can record 4-5 at the same time. As far as software that works with vista goes i have no idea, but the mediaportal forum might be able to help on that. Currently picking up on MediaPortal TV1, 2,3, C4, Maori, TVNZ Sport Extra, TVNZ6 Plus on Analogue picking up Prime, Juice, Trackside, TV1,2,3 C4, Maori plus a few unidentified channels. |

You must be doing something different to me Bantu- I've got an HVR3000 hooked up to a Sky dish running on a new XP install . After endless mucking around I got as far as getting Tv server to show up freeview and D1 as a sat . . . that's as far as it goes, no scan works and more often than not TV sever would hang . I also tried Mediaportal by itself but couldn't get freeview/D1 to show up as a sat to scan . I even tried the daily SVN but that was borked . Can't for the life of me think why they would have every sat in the world except Optus D1 in their list . All up worse fun than linux :yuck: PS, I also have a separate sat DVB box and that works fine hooked up to the dish . |
