602994 2007-10-19 20:41:00 My favourites are:

http://www.pspad.com/ - Free, fast, fully-feature and generally awesome.

www.osflash.org - It's not just for actionscript

I used to use 1st page 2000, and that was ok.

I have Dreamweaver at work and it's alright. Two things I look for in a program is tag completion and indenting. FlashDevelop and Dreamweaver are good with this, PSPad doesn't give you code hints and for some weird reason, it's indenting is a bit crap.

If you want to learn how to code and not use a WYSIWYG then get one of these editors. You are going to need Firebug for firefox too. It will save you so much pain debugging.

602996 2007-10-19 23:23:00 Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express

msdn2.microsoft.com

Its the web component of Visual Studio and Microsoft makes it available for free. I've been using Dreamweaver MX for the last couple of years but prefer Web Developer Express. If you've ever had any experience working with other .net languages its particularly good as the environment is the same.

602997 2007-10-20 00:48:00 Definitely Coffeecup with a great built in FTP client. Also Fusion from Netobjects. It was recently updated and the version just before that is now free.

Cheers

602998 2007-10-20 04:01:00 Thanks for the suggestions will download NVU shortly and have a play on that. stormdragon (6013)
602999 2007-10-20 04:13:00 If you decide to start coding instead of relying on WYSIWYG, Notepad++ is a nice programme for Windows if you want more from plain notepad, and it´s free (as in speech). NVU is alright, but I could never get into the whole WYSIWYG thing, so I use bluefish/screem instead. gnail (6819)
