It's a Dell desktop with buttons on the front of the monitor. A friend poked around and made the contast so dark that we can barely see. I don't know how to change it back. Please help. :help: :help: :help: :help: |

1. Bang your mate over the head and tell him to go home.
Just press the buttons, and see which one gives you a reset / default settings option. |

There should be 2 buttons or atleast all monitors have atleast 2- one for brightness and one for contrast. Press each and see if you can make out if its brightness or contrast. You dont have a "Auto" button or something similar do you that reverts back to a default setting (NOT factory default)? |

There are actually 5 buttons including the power button but it brings up a little box that I don't know how to adjust. It's nothing like me tv. |

Well no, it won't be like your TV, its a computer screen. Anyway, whatever box comes up, press the right arrow key or which ever button is designated to be the right arrow key and hopefully it'll increase contrast. Repeat with the other 3 buttons. |

The arrow keys do not have any effect upon that box except to make it go away. |

Most monitors with digital controls have some arrow keys for menu navigation. Usually by pressing one of those first (as opposed to the menu button), the monitor shows a brightness/contrast menu straight away, as a shortcut without going through the menu. |
