604094 2007-10-22 03:16:00 To Wainuitech, (or anyone as clever as he)

I have another problem that I hope you can solve. I am an avid user of Cool Edit and have been using it on Windows 98 - now superseeded by XP and now by Vista. When recording with Cool Edit in XP I can access the Windows Mixer and adjust recording and playback levels no problem. Perhaps you have seen the mixer? Amongst other things it gives you access to the LINE and MICROPHONE input levels on record. Works very well. I would now like to be able to do the same with Vista but have no idea where or if there is a mixer of similar ilk in Vista. Hopefully you will know.

Thanks, Roscoe.

604098 2007-10-22 06:00:00 After using cool edit pro 2 (now adobe audition) a bit for recording and cleaning vinyl, it is generally better than cool edit 2000. Also, many users have reported issues with using CE 2000 in Vista, in addition to apparent limitations since it was acquired by Adobe. Check this (www.adobeforums.com), which may offer possible help and this (www.adobeforums.com) (scroll down a bit) which is a short cut to placing the Vista recording controls on the desktop... kahawai chaser (3545)
604099 2007-10-22 08:18:00 Okay- as you will have found out, Vista is changed from Xp in many departments, Microsoft appears to have set the audio controls to automatic on many apps - OK for the average Joe ( sorry joe:p ) But for people wanting more control it SUCKS!.

But wait - theres always a way around every thing;) If you want a Audio Mixer, there are a few about and this one Here I found (www.softpedia.com) ,Have not tried it yet as my Vista PC's are in the workshop and turned off.

But wait theres more still :D IF you have High Def audio, you have a fantastic mixer right at your finger tips - On the task bar you should have a orange speaker, double click it and vola! many more controls. This picture (www.imagef1.net.nz) was downloaded from the Net, not from my PC, but it gives you the general Idea.

PS: As you may guess the BBQ was gooooooood Hic ;)
