| 603879 | 2007-10-21 20:29:00 | Hi there, Ok, now I'm ready to load XP Pro on to a new 500GB Seagate SATA 2 hard drive (model ST3500630AS) 7200.10 16mb. Is there anything specific I need to know as I am a relative newbie to all this (first pc build). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!! My system so far is: Asus Striker Extreme, E6750 CPU with stock heatsink and fan, Thermaltake Toughpower 850W PSU, 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 DDR2 800, Asus EN8800GTS and a Asus 1814BLT SATA optical drive. |

| 603882 | 2007-10-21 20:47:00 | Depends if you're planning on running games as well. You could partition C (the main partition) to 90-100 gb or so. Then make a few more partitions...And keep updates etc on one of them. For example. This would save you from downloading them again, in case you need to format later on. And maybe another partition for MP3's if you want to store them on the hdd. |

Yup I would format in NTFS. You could partition the main partition (C) then to 100-150 GB, if you're planning on installing a LOT of games. |

| 603887 | 2007-10-21 21:51:00 | You'll probably need to load your motherboard SATA drivers so you can install windows Your motherboard will come with a driver floppy or a program on the driver CD (you may be able to boot from it) to create a floppy Then, when you start the install of windows it will ask "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver" at which point press F6, later on in the install it will ask you for the drivers, so at that point you need the floppy. |
