| 603840 | 2007-10-21 09:37:00 | Trying to connect to a website in Canada but each attempt times out. My ISP is Xtra. A friend using Paradise seems to have no problem connecting. I've tried unsuccessfully pinging the website's IP address (69.67.173.210)and tracert command shows it hangs on hop 10 after the Vancouver hub. Friend & I both use XP & IE7. Has anyone encountered this problem please & is there way around? An email from the site's webmaster says some people can access while others can't -being no help at all! Does each ISP initiate the route to the target? |

| 603844 | 2007-10-21 18:46:00 | I had a similar problem with my email server last week . Problem was at the server's end and has now been resolved . As I understand it the problem was as follows: - The IP gurus who control IP addresses kept some in reserve for future expansion . Every so often they release a few more and the ISPs snap them up so they can expand their services . - The server's firewall blocks the unused ones but syncs up to a list somewhere to update it . - It looks like ihug acquired another range in the last few days and . . . - The server's firewall didn't sync to the list for some reason The tech has solved my problem by manually releasing my one and will no doubt be actively trying to sort his syncing out . Suggestion: Email them with your IP address and ask if it is blocked on their firewall |
