603413 2007-10-20 20:21:00 ive recently setup a wireless router, which my standard broadband modem is running through.

only problem now is that people can sit outside my house and get free internet access. how do I go about setting up a password to the router, so that any computers connecting to it will need to put the password in?

It is a DSE WLAN 802.11G wireless router with eXtended Range!!!!!!.

603414 2007-10-20 20:27:00 Enable WPA Encryption, and set it up with a difficult-to-guess "passphrase". When you try connecting using your PCs, it'll ask you to enter this passphrase.

There should be instructions in the user manual on exactly how to do this for your particular model of router.

cheers

603416 2007-10-20 21:09:00 People who use WLANS at home, SHOULD read the manual, (or at least go into the config/setup), before they connect it to a network.

The password to the router for instance, ISN'T the same as the password / or passphrase, for the encryption.

Its a bit late complaining AFTER, when you find someone is using your net access.
