603296 2007-10-21 08:56:00 Well its either the wrong mobo you're talking about, or you need the BIOS update like WT said to fix the prob.

That snapshot doesnt tell me a hell of a lot.

You'll have to do one of them or you'll never get the sound to work.

And I'm not planning on replying to this thread, till Xmas

603297 2007-10-21 08:59:00 Could I just do what was suggested earlier? Would it 100% work for sure definitely?

If you want to try , thats if Speedy can't come up with a working solution, go back to the ASus Site, download every driver for the board. Then Burn them to CD for possible use. Reformat the drive again, keep off the internet, then using the original CD that came with the motherboard, load the drivers. It should autorun and install all required drivers in the right order. That should work. THEN reconnect to the internet to complete any updates/ install etc.

And what was that?? There's 7 pages in this thread/post.

Update the BIOS you mean?

Obviously you're not getting anywhere by installing the soundcard drivers..

603300 2007-10-21 09:13:00 What Speedy Means is sometimes you have to know when to give up and start again. There may have been driver damage done thats unrepairable.

I did down load the manual, on page 81 it says the audio driver is AD 1888 Soundmax.

Here (drivers.softpedia.com) is a link to a site that has the so called original driver. Orange Button Left hand side.

Heres what I suggest - Ignore the manual and any numbers. With the PC off, remove the side of the case, and look carefully to see if you can locate the model number printed on the Motherboard (may need a tourch to see clearly) Sometimes ( But not offten) the wrong manual may have been given out this will double check its the correct board.

If some how its the wrong model, we could be banging our heads on the wall just to see if it hurts the same the second time

Would it 100% work for sure definitely

Simple answer - NOPE - nothing is 100%

Apart from I'm going to bed now - Night:dogeye:

603301 2007-10-21 09:16:00 Thanks. I'll check it now. Which one's the motherboard lol. Where is the number located? Wardog (6821)

Well, might have to.

Format the hdd / install XP then SP1/2.

THEN the IDE / LAN / Audio drivers.

You dont need RAID unless you're using RAID.

If the sound drivers dont install then, update / flash the BIOS.

But yup, check just to make SURE you've got the right mobo brand / model.
