2007-10-21 03:13:00 | You need this for the LAN ( . asus . com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/sis741GX/LAN . zip" target="_blank">dlsvr01 . asus . com) And SP1 or 2 for the USB controller entry . Delete the USB controller entry with the ? If SP1 or 2 is installed, then reboot . And this for the Audio ( . asus . com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/sis741GX/Windows . zip" target="_blank">dlsvr01 . asus . com) You're extracting WHAT's in the zipped file arent you?? Before you're running the setup file in it? So, is the sound going now?

2007-10-21 03:25:00 | I have installed SP2, from MS.com and I have downloaded the 266mb .exe installer, but for some reason, it isn't showing up in DXDIAG. I am extracting before I setup. Sound still doesn't work.

2007-10-21 03:34:00 | SP2 doesnt appear in dxdiag. Well it doesnt show here under dxdiag either. All it says, is 5.1 Build 2600 The SP appears when you go to system properties / general tab. So, you extracted the zip file I posted, then ran it, NOT go thru device manager and tried to add it from there right? Whats that game port for CH products entry in device manager?

2007-10-21 03:41:00 | Some sort of audio Drivers Look like they have installed. Once you have downloaded the Audio drivers and extracted them to a folder you should see lots of files and one called SETUP, thats all you need to double click to install. If the old drivers are still instaleld then the new ones may not overwrite them. I'm assuming speedys direct links are from the same place as He / I pointed on the ASUS website. You may need to go into control Panel / Add/remove programs, uninstall the current audio drivers. When rebooting, STOP all drivers from loading when it asks for them, then install the downloaded ones. Before you do any thing, go to control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices , then Audio Tab, hopefully there will be a dropdown box, see if you have Soundmax as an option. If you do then select it, if you dont then the drivers still have not installed. As mentioned before soundmax can be a pain. An example of what you should have is Here (www.imagef1.net.nz) My audio is Realtek, but you should see Soundmax.

2007-10-21 03:46:00 | I did that to both, the LAN one and the AUDIO one. Whats that game port for CH products entry in device manager? Dunno, it's just there. I didn't put it in.

2007-10-21 03:49:00 | And have you rebooted after installing any of these drivers?? If you havent it might be a good idea to reboot now.

2007-10-21 03:52:00 | The setup file is giving me an error, it shows it installing, then it gives the severe.jpg error that I posted above. When rebooting, STOP all drivers from loading when it asks for them, then install the downloaded ones. Lulwut? How do you mean .. This is what comes up in my Audio and Sound device properties (courtesy of paint); www.imagef1.net.nz I've rebooted at least 8 times today.

2007-10-21 04:04:00 | The Drivers have not installed. When you removed the original Audio Drivers, and you reboot it should come up with a messages saying " Found new Hardware" at this point cancel it, and it you will get an error message saying device not installed (words to that effect) then you go to the folder you downloaded the files Speedy provided (like I have just done) and double click SETUP.exe, this should install the correct drivers. See This snapshot (www.imagef1.net.nz) Its the files downloaded from Speedys suggestion for the audio. The problem may be that as long as the correct model of MB has been given, then the old drivers may be stopping the correct ones from installing. That shouldn't have done so with the Ethernet. Are you 100% positive the model is A7S8X-MX - where did you locate these numbers Please.
