You'll have to unzip the SATA drivers (If theyre needed), to the USB flash , and if it doesnt detect the hdd (reboot, then press F6 when it says to press F6).

See if it can find it.

Not all systems need the SATA drivers, to install Windows tho.

603891 2007-10-21 23:53:00 You will need to use a floppy drive, you can sometimes get away with a USB floppy drive if you know someone that has one but they don't always work.

It only needs to be used for the installation so you can throw it away afterwards.

603892 2007-10-22 01:05:00 Thanks mmogold,

I do have one lying around so I'll install it just as a precaution before I begin my load which will probably be tomorrow evening now as I've left my product key at work!!!

603893 2007-10-22 01:14:00 That motherboard in particular will need the F6 driver, it's usually just the cheapy motherboards with onboard everything and basic SATA controllers that don't need them.

If you're feeling adventurous you can get a program called nLite - it will let you integrate the driver itself into the Windows install itself so you don't need a floppy drive.

603894 2007-10-22 01:27:00 Hmmm, it is very tempting I must admit, I might try it. Is there a particular site I go to in order to get it or shall I just google it? clevertrev (12879)
