I've only ever used tracert in DOS at the command prompt. Those who have copied it here - how did you do it?

Do you mean copy it from the DOS at the command prompt?

Either that or is there a windows version?

Only way I've found to copy it is to print screen and save it as an image. But I see others have copied it as text.

Right click in the command prompt window and choose "Mark". Then you can select, and copy/paste text from the command prompt window.

Alternatively, if I remember correctly you can use > to send the output of a command to a file. For example:
tracert google.com > googletrace.txt

603856 2007-10-22 06:49:00 Ooops!

When the ping failed, I didn't bother going there (on the browser). Just tried that, and I got the fish too. It seems that ping packets are dropped silently (i.e., by a firewall). Lots of sites do that. That's why the pings are failing. So I don't think there is anything wrong with the remote site at all.

What is your IP address?

603857 2007-10-22 07:22:00 Thanks people. Should have remembered the > x.txt from my DOS days  I like the layout of that one better than mark and paste.

I'd also never thought to right click in a command prompt window. (That probably comes from learning DOS back in the old days before windows was invented! I remember the XT with a 10Mb hard drive running DOS 3.2 ...)

Read and bookmarked .

I knew the basic principles but this has filled in the details .

Thank you

603859 2007-10-22 07:53:00 I have no problem with accessing the website via Internet browsers (Xtra dial-up ). However, trying to ping it resulted in 100% data loss.

Cheers :)
