| 604080 | 2007-10-22 04:00:00 | A friend has asked me to add extra 512MB of memory to his Dell 2400 desktop (400 MHz FSB). (Yes, I know Dell is a four letter word). Anyway, it takes DDR266. Ascent sell the Kingston value ram, DDR333 for $61 and this will default down. However, the Kingston Memory Configurator on the Ascent site suggests a Kingston 512MB Module for Dell OEM (DDR266) , selling at $95.50. I suspect he is probably best to stump up the extra $25.00 to be sure, but is it really necessary to buy Dell specific memory? Thanks in anticipation. |

I personally would get the cheapest crap DDR XXX 512 I can find, as it's a Dell and already has cheap crap in it. I would be 99% sure DDR 400 or 333 would work. | wratterus (105) | ||
