2007-10-21 20:57:00 | Hey ya. I have just been on trade me and brought myself a new game!!! ii brought Need For Speed Most Wanted. i am running a pentium 4 Cpu @ 2.40GHz with 1.00 GB or ram. I am running the game at the lowest detail level but it still lags!!!!:angry is there anyway that i can give the game more cpu so it will run better? there is one thing slowing it down a little bit and it called SVCHOST.exe but i dont know what that is. i have heard of a few programs that make the cpu give all of its power to the games:illogical .... if so can u please direct me to there names or websites and if so will that slowly destroy the cpu if i do that? I have a Asus P4p800s-x and a WinFast A340 td !28mb graphics card if that helps. i am also running window pro SP2. Any help will be favoured. Thanks:thumbs:

2007-10-21 21:14:00 | svchost is a windows file but trojans / worms can also infect this file. And screw things up. Get hijackthis in my sig below. Put it in its own folder run it. Then click on scan the system and save a log. Post the log here. We'll see if you've got anything nasty.

2007-10-21 21:16:00 | The CPU will not be a dual core, so theres not a lot you can do about shuffling processes around. Check in the task manager to see how many processes are running. Post a hijackthis (www.trendsecure.com) log and we can see if theres anything that might be causing you grief, but i highly doubt it. Edit - Beat me to it again. :p Your main issue is most likely your graphics card. The rest of your hardware should just cope on lower settings. I ran Most Wanted with a 3ghz dual core Pentium 4, 1 gig of ram and a (well it was very expensive when I bought it) pci-e 256MB Nvidia 6200 card. It ran at about 30fps with all settings on normal and at 1024*768. I would never want to run it on anything less that a 6200. That card your using only has a 5200FX chip in it. Also, the board only supports AGP 8x, and it only uses SD RAM. (Old and slow) Your never going to get excellent, or even really good performance on a game like most wanted with your hardware. Probably the only thing that you could do to improve matters would be a graphics card upgrade. Something like this (www.nzoczone.com) or this (www.nzoczone.com) perhaps.

2007-10-21 21:22:00 | Also i have been looking at new G cards and i was wondering if they are easy to fit and install..... | password (5384) | |
2007-10-21 21:26:00 | Graphics cards are extremely simple to install. What's the specs of your PSU? It's possible if you decided to go for a gfx upgrade your PSU couldn't handle the jandal.

2007-10-21 21:31:00 | Sorry - should have said. Pop the side of the PC case off and it will say on the PSU itself. Post back whats written there. Also tell us what brand. ;)

You shouldnt have 2 firewalls running . They'll conflict with each other . Uninstall ALL versions of Sun Java, yours is out of date . Link is in my sig below . |
