2007-10-20 21:24:00 | Hi guys, I'm just in the process of building my first pc...what a mission!!! Anyhoo...I have read a few thousand reviews and whatnot and am still not sure what is the best size or make. At present I'm leaning toward a Seagate 500gb Sata 2. Any thoughts? | clevertrev (12879) | |
2007-10-20 22:07:00 | Seagate are a good brand. Nothing wrong with them. Does (or will) the motherboard support SATA 2?? If not the hdd will have to be switched to SATA 1. And wont run at SATA 2 speed.

2007-10-20 22:20:00 | Yup it shouldn't be a prob with 500GB . What version of Windows (if you're going to use Windows) are you installing? XP? Vista?

2007-10-20 23:03:00 | If you plan on getting the 500GB then pay a bit extra for the 32MB Cache and better model 7200.11. The .11 series is faster and has a higher density disk. Whats the rest of your system like?

2007-10-20 23:33:00 | Hi Trinsic, thanks for the advice . I thought about the 7200 . 11 also but was a little put off by the price . So far my system is the following: Thermaltake Soprano case, Thermaltake Toughpower 850W psu, Asus Striker Extreme, Intel E6750 CPU with stock heatsink and fan, Asus EN 8800 GTS 320 video card, 2 x 1 GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 DDR2 800 and a Asus 1814BLT Sata Optical . Just need a hard drive to get it fired up I think .

2007-10-21 00:59:00 | You can't go wrong with a Seagate and dont worry about getting the 7200.11 You can always add better and cheaper HDD's in the future. But the rest of it looks good so enjoy:thumbs: | beeswax34 (63) | |
