2007-10-20 14:46:00 | Found ASP . NET account as one of my "users" last night . . . must've crept in with an update from M$ . . . and I was just looking around trying to find why my start-up was taking a little longer than usual . Well, I went to Control Panel>>User Accounts and saw that I had an entry called ASP . NET there . Click on the ICON and then it'll give you some options . . . just use the DELETE THIS ACCOUNT . . . . and you'll see some differences in the way XP opens . . . . maybe even 2000Pro too . (I dunnow) ASP . NET is reserved for code-writers, people who are creating dynamic websites, web applications and/or XML Web Services . If you're not doing things like that, you don't need it . While you're there, if you don't need the GUEST ACCOUNT, dump it too . . . its not removable, just toggle it OFF . An electron saved is a good thing! Electrons are your friends .

Vista has even more and they are hidden and you can't even see them. One is Trusted Installer and removing files from this user is a mean job. |

2007-10-21 22:07:00 | Hey Joe, I can't find it anywhere on my PC WinXP SP2. | lakewoodlady (103) | |
2007-10-21 22:24:00 | it installs with dotnet framework 1.1 I think. either that or 2.0 if you don't have them installed, you won't have the user. I deleted the user because it was preventing auto-logon & I think deleting the user is a better solution than forcing auto-logon.

2007-10-21 23:06:00 | I agree....it lets you log on without choosing a user...but it itself does never show on the sign-on page. That alone is a good thing..get rid of those spook operators/users.

2007-10-21 23:24:00 | It does install with .NET Framework 1.1 - I have always deleted it straight away. I could still do ASP development fine without it fine as well.
