| 603236 | 2007-10-20 08:13:00 | So a few days ago, my computer started to seriously lag, even when a popup box appears, and I click "OK", or playing solitaire and clicking "new game", and so on and so forth. So I reformatted. Now everything goes fine, computer is fast, but I cannot connect to slingshot broadband. I've tried everything I can think of to get it working, reinstalling the drivers, going to the routers configuration (crap IE won't load the page), and much more. Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything at all? I seriously need help guys, I am posting this because I happened to have a slingshot dialup account handy. PS: I will ring slingshot as a last resort, because they always have a knack of getting the guys who can't speak English to be phone operators. |

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything at all? What have you tried ? Can you get an IP address from the router start/run type in CMD then ipconfig Does the gateway and IP show. When going into Device Manager does the Ethernet card/connection show as drivers loaded/ functioning ? Can you ping the router? Is the windows firewall turned off (that can cause problems)? Is the Internet Options set to " Never Dial A Connection" Please supply a little more as to what you have done, other wise things that have been tried may be suggested when already tried. Cheers. |

| 603238 | 2007-10-20 08:42:00 | I have tried reconnecting everything, restarting the computer, going to the modems IP address (dynalink rta1320) (www.dynalink.co.nz), reinstalling the drivers several times, creating new network internet connections .. ..but nothing seems to be working. I can't find the ethernet bit in Device manager Pinging 192.68.1.1 gives me a timeout I'm sure windows firewall isn't in SP1 Yep, its on "never dial a connection" It can't even pick up the modem when it is plugged in, it isn't the USB thing, because my phone can connect via USB. It has to be something within the router, but it worked earlier today when I was using it. Man this is starting to annoy me. img206.imageshack.us |

| 603239 | 2007-10-20 09:02:00 | ... I can't find the ethernet bit in Device manager ... img206.imageshack.us If I'm not wrong, you have not installed the driver for the Ethernet controller. Get hold of the driver CD or download it from the Manufacturer's website and install all the necessary drivers. |

| 603240 | 2007-10-20 09:04:00 | did you try 192.168.0.2 for the router configuration page? | bevy121 (117) | ||
| 603241 | 2007-10-20 09:09:00 | OKAY - problem should be easy enough to Nut out - PC simply aint talkin' to the modem/router. When you reinstalled the OS, did youinstall ALL the Motherboard Drivers ? To configure Internet Connection Firewall manually in Windows XP or Windows XP SP1: 1. Click Start, click Run, type control.exe netconnections, and then click OK. 2. Right-click the connection on which you would like to enable ICF, and then click Properties. 3. On the Advanced tab, click the box to select the option to Protect my computer or network or untick it to stop it. 4. If you want to enable the use of some applications and services through the firewall, you must enable them. To do this, click Settings, and then click to select the programs, protocols, and services that you want to enable for the ICF configuration. To check the LAN card open Device Manager and you should have something like This (www.imagef1.net.nz) Also check that when the cable between the PC and modem/router is connected the LAN LED is lit on the Modem, just in case there is a damaged cable. If every thing is OK there - then try getting an IP again from the Router, open the CMD and type in ipconfig If it come back with an IP of 169.x.x.x ( X meaning random numbers) then there is still no connection to the modem. You can try to renew the IP, but that may not help. To renew 1st in the CMD window type ipconfig /release to let go of the address. To Renew it type in ipconfig /renew Wardog - check your PM, I don't want to put something here in a public forum - security reasons |

| 603242 | 2007-10-20 09:12:00 | I installed the driver off the dynalink CD that came with the modem (several times). I'll download the drivers off the website just to be sure though, but it'll take a while, dialup ftl. |

| 603244 | 2007-10-20 09:21:00 | www.imagef1.net.nz is what my device manager looks like. All the lights on the modem work fine. |

You don't actually need those drivers for the modem for it to connect - I never use them - Never had a problem, and I've installed to many to count. |
