| 603106 | 2007-10-19 23:10:00 | On booting up computer and before opening ANY apps, it dials out "on it's own"?? By cancelling dial-up, the computer needs to be re-booted before you can go out on the internet when you want to. I have updated and run Spybot and Ad-aware but no "intruders" found. The only app I have recently downloaded is QuickTime, could this be the problem? Any advise appreciated - thanks, Peter |

| 603107 | 2007-10-20 00:00:00 | You are right to be concerned. It could well be quicktime calling home, though. Run msconfig via Start/Run and uncheck qttask.exe so that it doesn't start up when you kick XP into life. If you still get an auto dial, download Highjackthis (look for a Speedy posting on this forum e.g. pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) and post the log here. |

| 603109 | 2007-10-20 00:58:00 | Just go into IE and untick Always Dial a Connection. That stops it. | pctek (84) | ||

You mean you unticked it in msconfig, or deleted its entry under the startup tab, in ccleaner ? (http://www.ccleaner.com) And it still runs on startup? |
