604925 2007-10-24 21:29:00 hello
we have an older model scanner here - a HP Precisionscan Pro31. which stopped working - the power light flashes when ever it is turned on and it makes some mighty strange noises, all resulting in it not working.
there are some users here who are keen to keep this scanner and ger it fixed - when it is working it does a pretty good job.
Is there any one in wellington who can fix these scanners?

Cheers
Alastair

The wellington HP Agents are VisualGroup (www.visualgroup.co.nz) they would have any required spare parts. Just be careful though - get a quote first, the price of a new scanner may be cheaper than getting an older one repaired.

604929 2007-10-24 22:51:00 hm..........bad economy getting it fixed considering you can buy a multifunction for considerably less than $100 now....probably cost you $60 or so just for someone to look at it let alone fix it drcspy (146)
604930 2007-10-25 00:28:00 And Visual Group suck.

Why? Though I have to admit, their tech came to fix the Bluetooth on my HP Pavilion and snapped the wires going to the screen so couldn't see anything:lol:

604931 2007-10-25 00:35:00 I have found Visual Group in Christchurch to be really good, actually.

I wouldn't even bother with trying to get it fixed, by the sound of the problem, it's reasonably serious, and as drcspy said, you can buy a multifunction for under $100.

Might be jumping the gun, but if you end up wanting to buy a new flatbed scanner, I would highly recommend Canon (www.canon.co.nz).

604932 2007-10-25 01:04:00 Just regarding Visual Group - Sometimes I have had real good service, and I now actually finally got hold of one Tech In WGTN that did know a LOT - I always ask for him if its an HP problem ( warranty or part issue), other times it appeared they were almost going out of their way to make thing awkward. wainuitech (129)
604933 2007-11-07 03:19:00 Hello all, :p

I myself have had good service from VG Christchurch aswell, they got me a replacement laptop under manufacturers warranty even though the unit was 2 months out of warranty. Seems like they put in huge effort to please their customers.

Friends and family have the same opinion, I suppose its who you get on the day that makes a difference.

Cheers
