604564 2007-10-23 10:08:00 Hey -

I'm still getting the parts for my PC and realised something - the GFX's cards have Dual DVI out.

Does this mean I can run two desktops (if I have two screens)???

Or does it mean that I can only run one but expand it to two full screens (so I could have a DVD playing on my screen and be doing some work on the other?)

604565 2007-10-23 10:51:00 It means that if you have two screens you can run both at the same time in a few different modes:

Clone Mode - Both screens show exactly the same thing
Extended Desktop Mode - Your display stretches across both screens as though the screens are one big screen. eg: If you normally run your screen at 1024x768 it can become 2048x768
Dual View Mode - Each screen runs indepenant of the other and you can have one program running on one screen and another running on the second screen. Each screen can run at different resolutions if you want to.

I hope I got these right :D - The modes may be called something else depending on the driver and brand of graphics card.

604567 2007-10-23 11:24:00 SLI is different.
Basically SLI combines the power of two graphics cards to speed up graphics in games.
Pretty sure if you want to run a game in SLI mode you can only run one monitor???

604568 2007-10-23 18:56:00 If you run in SLI mode, Cyabro is correct and can only run one monitor. But SLI can easily be turned on and off so can be off for dual monitor and on for gaming. berryb (99)
