604569 2007-10-23 09:22:00 Does anyone have any recommendations for a freeware file download / upload manager?

Was trying to upload a video to Facebook for my daughter to watch and the router disconnected just before it completed. Before doing it again I'd like to use a manager.

604570 2007-10-23 09:24:00 IDM is a good one, but it is a 30 day trial. http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com

I get up to 180kb/s with that, and firefox download manager gives me like 60 or 70 kb/s.

(I don't think this can upload, only download.)

604572 2007-10-23 19:44:00 I'm not sure about upload managers, but for a download manager Flashget is very good w/ the Flashgot plugin.

As far as I know, you can't resume http uploads like you can with downloads.
FTP however is different, but I doubt Facebook allows you to FTP files to it.

604573 2007-10-23 20:13:00 FreeDownload Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/) works well, is Free and has Resume as long as site allows resumes. Not all sites do. wainuitech (129)
604574 2007-10-23 20:35:00 I have used a few and think download accelerator plus (DAP) is the best.
Doesn't confuse things like flashget can.

for downloading i've just tried flashget again and it still has problems. getright still works well tho it tends to bug you to buy it.

604576 2007-10-24 03:47:00 Was speaking to a friend who made a valid point. The machine receiving the file is the one that saves its, puts the markers in and knows where to resume from if it times out. The one sending it probably hasn't a clue.

So it therefore makes sense that only download managers exist.

I hate to admit it :o but when the thing crashed I didn't bother to see if it would resume. Just turned it off and went off and did something else. For all I know Facebook had a manager on it. Some experiments required.
